Brad Swortzel – Founder and Owner
Growing up in Virginia, some of his best memories were created spending time outdoors with family and friends. He spent his summers in high school and college working in the landscape industry. After several years in the commercial construction industry, he started BWS Landscaping. Brad believes communication, professionalism, and building relationships are the core principles for success.
Brad graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management.
Kyle Ennis – Sales Manager
Kyle joined the BWS team in 2014 as sales manager. Kyle is a native of Richmond, but began his landscaping career on Nantucket Island during summer breaks while in college. After serving as Operations Manager for a landscape firm in Nantucket, Kyle moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the nation’s leading commercial landscape maintenance firm. Kyle moved back to Richmond to serve as Residential Services and Horticulture Manager for a regional landscape firm.
Kyle has completed the mini MBA program at the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business.
Kyle Johnston – Project Manager
Kyle Johnston manages the hardscape and landscape projects for BWS Landscaping. Kyle is dedicated to transforming properties to reflect the customer’s vision. This commitment makes him invaluable to the team. Kyle’s interest in the industry began at a young age as he grew up working in his family’s nursery and landscape company in Delaware. Kyle became a member of the BWS team in 2015.
Kyle graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture. He is also a Virginia Certified Horticulturist.
David Nuckols – Account Manager
David is a seasoned landscape professional with a passion for our industry. He has been managing high-end landscapes in Richmond for over 20 years. His experience and desire to always keep improving the customer experience, makes him a perfect fit with our culture. David is a Virginia Certified Horticulturist.
Vlad Bugger – Sales and Business Development
Vlad joined the BWS team in 2015 as a crew leader. He came to Richmond from Wallkill, New York to escape the frigid temperatures. After three years of running projects in the field, he was promoted to manager. While his tasks have varied from crew leader to fleet manger, he spends his time now in sales and business development. Vlad’s knowledge and hands on experience helps to improve and strengthen our relationships with our customers.
Whitney Neal – Administrative Professional
Whitney is the Administrative Professional for BWS Landscaping. Prior to joining our team, Whitney spent seven years working in Children’s Ministry. She enjoys helping people of all ages, and is in our office to help answer your questions.
Whitney graduated from Radford University with a degree in Sociology.
Brian Burton – Account Manager
Brian is a 12-year veteran to the landscaping business, beginning his career in Hampton Roads as a crew member and moving his way up to head crew leader for a well-known Virginia Beach based landscaping company. Brian received his BS in Psychology from Old Dominion University and moved to Richmond in 2015 to pursue his Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating from VCU, Brian served as a counselor to at-risk children and families within the greater Richmond area, with a focus on communication, resiliency, and overcoming obstacles through teamwork and planning.
After working as a counselor for several years, Brian found that he missed working outdoors and returned to his first love of landscaping, happily finding a home within the unmatched company culture of BWS. As an account manager, Brian values the ability to combine his landscaping experience with his passion for serving and connecting with people. In so doing, Brian strives to integrate his values of transparent communication, personal connection, and genuineness in all of his work with team members and clients at BWS.
Michael Meyers - Production Manager
Michael knows all aspects of our business. He started as a crewmember and worked his way up to now being a key part of our management team. He is a great people person and his passion for helping our customers and their property needs comes through in everything he does. In addition to landscaping, he also has years of management experience in retail, food, and construction services.
